Sean Wai Keung is a poet whose work often uses food as a starting point for explorations of identity and migration. His first full length poetry collection, β€˜sikfan glaschu’, was published by Verve Poetry Press in April 2021.

Sean’s favourite vegetable is broccoli, a lot of which is related to the memories of his family cooking and eating it together. Steph from food/play/food loves potatoes because they're so robust, versatile and a good team player.

These Seeptember β€˜22 events were part of the Peas Please Veg Advocate Programme supported by The Food Foundation and Nourish Scotland.

Sean Wai Keung and food/play/food created these workshops for the Peas Please Veg Advocate programme to explore the taste, memories and place of vegetables.

In the first workshop we examined our relationship with vegetables and took sensory cues to write a recipe - style poem, as well as eating and making summer rolls together and starting creation of a veg-themed zine.

The meal was created using produce from Locavore CIC, Rhyze Mushrooms and Sanpo Yoshi.

The second workshop was an online creative writing event, using poetry featuring fruit and veg as prompts to explore themes of taste, place, personality and identity.
